General Library Use Policies

Policies concerning general use of the library.

LIBRARY POLICIES  

BATHROOM
Bathrooms are not set up for public use, but people can use in case of emergency. 

PHONE: 
Patrons can use the phone if calls are brief.  An example is a child calling a parent to pick them up.

REGISTRATION:
People wanting a library card must show valid ID and complete card information.  Check to see if patron has had a previous card.  Children must be in first grade to have their own card.

FOOD:
No food or drink is allowed in the library.

COMPUTERS: 
Patrons must sign in.  NO ONE under 18 can use the computer unless a parent is sitting BESIDE them.

YEARBOOKS: 
Yearbooks can’t be checked out.

TROUBLE:
Anyone causing a disturbance will be asked to leave.  If they don’t leave, police will be called.  

MEMORIALS:
If someone wants to make a memorial, be sure to find out the correct spelling of the person giving the donation, their address, the correct spelling of the person they want remembered, donation amount, and name and address of who to notify.

CIRCULATION:
Children may check out three books.  The official number for adults is four, but a few patrons will check out more.  These are regular patrons. New patrons are limited to three books.  Fines are 5 cents per day per book.  Patrons with large outstanding debt will be unable to check out books.  Lost or damaged books must be paid for.  The cost is located on the circulation card.

HOURS: 
Hours are 10 am to 5 pm in the spring and summer.  Fall and winter hours are 9:30 am to 4:30 pm.  Lunch is from 12 to 1 pm.
